The public has spoken and it backed it up with support through crowd funding making Italian gourmet-quality pizza al taglio, Pizza Rossa a reality. PIZZA ROSSA opens its doors today!
Located at 4-12 Whittington Avenue, corner of Leadenhall St at Leadenhall Market, Pizza Rossa’s first London pop up will be catering to busy City workers with no time for a sit down lunch. The concept is inspired by the street food vendors of Italy so Pizza Rossa will offer delicious and easy to eat on the go, piping hot pizzas in 90 seconds.
I attended the launch of Pizza Rossa last night and got to sample what makes Pizza Rossa special and so popular that the company was able to raise more funds than it needed in just 17 days to open its first pop up in London
The answer is simple; delicious, authentic pizza, freshly made daily with tasty ingredients and served hot in no time at all.
People watching their weight will love this; the dough is vegan, it’s low in gluten, yeast and salt compared to other pizzas, and contains no sugar or preservatives. All this equals a low calorie pizza you can enjoy guilt free – definite music to the ears considering I packed more than a few slices away last night.
Starting at £2.95 per square slice for pizza rossa to £3.95 for Melanzane e Ricotta (grilled aubergine and ricotta on a base of passata and mozzarella); the menu also includes tasty lasagne and baked parmigiana, with more dishes to be added in the coming months. Pizza Rossa also serves coffee, Italian pastries and cakes, from early morning till closing time.
Pizza Rossa plans to open 12 more outlets in London within the next five years but if you can’t wait that long to get one close to you, make a quick trip to Leadenhall Market. I recommend the tomato topping, the ham/ prosciutto topping, mozzarella topping and aubergine topping, you won’t be disappointed.
