10 Autumn and Winter skincare saviours

TEMPLESPA The Most Revealing - A New Oxygen Peel - New product launch

Winter is coming, I love that saying especially in a ‘Game of Thrones’ context but as a season of the year, I really can’t stand it. The cold, the rain, not to mention the central heating wreaks havoc on the skin so it’s always a good idea to tweak skincare routine this time of year.

All summer long I’ve been using Korres Anti-ageing Body Oils because of its light but moisturising qualities but to combat the dryness and flakiness of winter weather, it’s time to invest in thick, rich, hydrating and moisturising skincare products. It’s always a great idea to aim for the best skincare products that moisturise for long periods and increase hydration in skin. Here are my top ten best skincare products that will save your skin from the harsh winter weather and keep skin in tip top shape.

Booster Serum with Hyaluronic Acid:

I am so in love with these beauties from Novexpert.

The Booster Serum with Hyaluronic Acid:

As you know Hyaluronic Acid is so trendy right now. Almost every skincare product I’ve come across recently contains this magic ingredient and for a good reason. Hyaluronic Acid retains moisture in the skin, keeps it hydrated, plumper and firmer. Hyaluronic acid acts like a sponge holding vast amounts of water in the skin, effectively plumping out the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improve the skin’s hydration and texture of the skin.

Imagine having this on tap for your skin day in, day out? Because that is what you get with Novexpert’s Booster Serum with Hyaluronic Acid. It contains the highest concentration of Hyaluronic Acid in any skincare, which is perfect for dry skin this winter.
This serum is great for any time of year for dryness and aging skin but even more so this time of year, to hydrate and smooth skin.

It can be applied in the morning and/or the evening, just pump 2 to 6 drops of the Booster on the fingertips and apply to skin before applying a moisturiser and makeup. It can even be mixed with a moisturiser as well. The booster serum is transparent and thick in texture. It’s gel like when applied but absorbs very quickly and leaves a smooth matte finish on the skin.

Another Novexpert favourite of mine which is perfect for winter skincare is this Booster with Vitamin C. I think of it as oranges in a bottle. As you all know this time of year, skin doesn’t just get dehydrated, our complexion also tend to suffer. It becomes very dull and that’s where this Booster with Vitamin C comes in.

Vitamin C brightens dull and ashy complexion, as well as pigment marks. It also has anti- aging qualities so it fights wrinkles and skin conditions caused by the environment. I’m really impressed with this Vitamin C booster, my skin was looking a little dull so I tried it, I saw a change in under a week so a massive thumps for me. Isn’t it great when a product does what it says on the bottle?
Just two pumps a day does the trick. Apply before moisturiser and makeup.

Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask:

This overnight mask is just perfect for keeping skin in tip top shape all autumn and winter.
It’s an intense moisturising treatment that works in synch with the skin’s natural night time recovery process to achieve a lifted, firmer look by morning.

It uses black tea ferment, black tea extract, blackberry leaf extract, and lychee seed extract to stop damaging free radicals and help to improve skin elasticity. Just massage a generous layer onto the face and neck. Leave on overnight for a firm, hydrated skin come morning.

What can I say other than I love this gel! I actually like all the moisturisers in the Hydro Boost range. It’s light, absorbs very quickly and leaves skin instantly soft to touch. Deep within skin, it also releases H2O (water) into skin all day – what’s not to like especially in winter when my skin is thirsty?

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula:

I’m new to this range from Neutrogena but thank God it’s on my radar now. The skincare products in this range is perfect for autumn / winter because they are formulated especially for dry skin.

It contains glycerin which draws moisture from the air, and from deep within the skin. The range basically creates a protective film to help reduce water loss and maintain water inside the skin. Here are my favourites from the range that will be perfect for thhis time year.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Nourishing Foot Cream:

When applied, this Nourishing Foot Cream immediately soothes and relieves even the driest feet. It provides intense 24 hour moisturisation and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream:

We wash our hands constantly during the day, at least I do so having this rich moisture in my purse all day ensures my hands are silky smooth and hydrated throughout the day. This glycerin-enriched formula instantly relieves and protects seriously dry or chapped hands.

Avon Anew Clinical Hydra Recovery Overnight Mask:

Another favourite is this Hydra Recovery Overnight Mask from Avon. It’s very light and absorbs quickly even though it has tiny shea butter beads in it. I wouldn’t call it a mask as it’s not thick enough but it does the job of hydrating and repairing the skin so I have no complaints. The Shea Butter Beads burst upon contact with skin to help replenish the skin’s protective layer. It also has the ‘it’ ingredient of the moment – Hyaluronic Acid which penetrates deep into skin’s layers for maximum hydration. Daily use of the Anew Clinical Hydra Recovery Overnight Mask also helps the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles fade.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Body Cream:

This cream is thicker than the lotion so takes a little longer to absorb but just as nourishing and makes the skin oh so soft.
The entire Coconut Oil Formula Body Cream range is naturally free of parabens, sulphates and the other nastiness you’ll find in other skincare products, also has ethically sourced ingredients.

Dove DermaSpa Cashmere Comfort Cocooning Body Lotion:

I love Dove moisturisers, and they have so many but I chose this DermaSpa Cashmere Comfort Cocooning Body Lotion because it not just nourishes and moisturise skin. It also has unique Cell-Moisturisers™ which helps to repair dryness-prone skin from within which is just the winter skincare.

Gently massage a generous amount in to skin, paying particular attention to the heels, knees, elbows and any other areas that can be prone to dry skin.

Finally, there’s this Aveeno Skin Relief Nourishing Lotion and Aveeno Skin Relief Restoring Hand Cream.
These are formulated with naturally active Triple Oat Complex and shea butter, and provides immediate relief for very dry, sensitive and irritable skin. It obviously can be used all year round, but thanks to its 24 hours moisturisation, it’s oh so perfect to keep dry, flaky skin at bay this autumn winter.
