IWC has produced an Aquatimer Chronograph Edition Jacques-Yves Cousteau to mark the 100th birthday of J.Y. Cousteau.
Cousteau was a pioneer of underwater research and championed greater protection for the world’s oceans.
As long term supporter of the Cousteau Society, IWC has over the years produced four limited edition watches in honor of the great man. This latest timepiece is the fifth in the series, it has pressure-resistant to 120 meters and boasts a slate-colored bearing Cousteau’s signature.
The external rotating bezel can be turned even when wearing gloves while the 4mm-wide sapphire glass ring has six coatings of luminescent Super-LumiNova to guarantee optimum legibility even when night-diving.
The stainless steel watch is engraved on the case back with a portrait of the Frenchman encircled by the words “A Tribute to J.Y. Cousteau 1910–2010”.
