Celebrating Uniqueness at the Perfume Studio

Everywhere I look these days, there’s personalision of some sort. We can get our jewellery engraved with messages and initials, same goes for our fashion accessories and even our skincare regime can be personalised to our skin type and having our fragrance bottles engraved with messages is nothing new.

A few weeks ago, I attended an eye opening session with the Perfume Studio, where they have taken personalisation to a whole other level. They offer a service where you can blend your own fragrance by picking the base, middle and top notes; name and register it so it is trademarked and it can be reproduced for you whenever you need it. They also engrave a bottle to house your signature fragrance, how cool is that!

Blending a masterpiece

In my case, a lover of sweet fragrances with a spicy finish, the lovely lady from the Perfume Studio took me through lot of fragrance vials to help me choose the right type of sweetness I wanted. Let’s just say, I was grateful my allergies didn’t kick in that day because I went through a lot of smells that day.

In the end, I settled on sweet and fresh which is just the right fragrance to represent my personality. Sweet, in the beginning with Gourmand and Balsamic which have base notes of pear, tonka, and vanilla, then I chose the subtle barely there Woody for the middle with notes of sandalwood, cedarwood, and tonka and a Spicy base with notes of cardamom, black pepper, and ginger to finish.

The finished blend which I called ‘The Clique’ was bottled in an engraved bottle of the same name, and registered.
So now I have my own signature fragrance, unique to me and my personality. And can only be reproduced with my permission and more importantly, I won’t be smelling like anyone else out there – now, that’s what I call personalisation.

The Finished Product

The entire experience was fun and very interactive not to mention very informative. It took less than an hour and anyone can do this by visiting the Perfume Studio in London.

They also offer a variety of experiences including Hen blending parties, afternoon tea blending parties, corporate and romantic blending sessions among others.
