I’ve been meaning to try the new Olay Clay Stick ever since I saw them back in March, but I’ve been stalling. That is until I realised I had been gifted one months ago, so here we go.

If you sense my lack of enthusiasm in trying these Clay masks, it’s because I don’t use face masks that often. To be honest, I exfoliate more than I use face masks although masking at least once a week is recommended by beauty experts.

Using face masks has its advantages for skin especially if you’re looking for clear and radiant skin. These benefits include hydrating skin, removing excess oils and helping improve the appearance of pores. They’re also an excellent way to help pull out impurities, not forgetting they have a pampering quality especially if it’s part of a weekly self-care routine.

I personally find face masks to be a little tedious and messy to apply, hence not using them but with the introduction of these Olay Clay Stick Face Masks, let’s just say I no longer have that excuse.

The face masks come in a tube or stick form and can be applied directly to face without getting fingers involved – hurrah!

The masks themselves are kaolin clay based so they pull out skin impurities leaving skin feeling refreshed and with a natural glow.

The masks come in three varieties; Glow Boost with white charcoal which removes the build-up of dead skin cells to bring new healthy skin cells to the surface, revealing the skin’s natural glow. Then there’s Fresh Reset with pink mineral complex which micro-polishes away clogging surface cells, instantly resetting tired skin for the ultimate fresh look and feel. Finally, there’s the Pore Detox mask with black charcoal which draws out impurities from deep within pores, reducing their appearance and leaving skin soft, refined and revived.

Turns out I had the Glow Boost with white charcoal so I decided to give it a try two weeks ago. I liked it on my first try and it is now part of my skincare routine. I’m using it twice a week because, again, no hands! It’s not messy, it’s easy to apply, just open it up and apply to face in broad strokes. Leave it on for 10 mins, while it dries and pulls out impurities.

I noticed the mask doesn’t dry out or tighten skin while it’s drying so you don’t end up with dry patchy skin when you wash it off, which was a pleasant surprise.

Overall, I like these Olay Clay Stick Face Masks because it feels less like a chore to apply, it’s not messy or skin drying and it does what face masks are supposed to do, which is draw out impurities and clear your pores. And because of all the above, it’s got me masking again so it’s all good in my book.

Olay face masks are available in all the usual places – Boots, Superdrug and online. Have you tried any of the range? I’d love to hear your experiences with the other two.
