World’s Most Expensive Cheese Sandwich

A U.K. chef has unveiled what might be the world’s most expensive cheese sandwich.
He’s charging 111 pounds, or $176, for the stack of special cheddar blended with white truffles and topped with a sprinkling of gold dust.

Chef Martin Blunos displayed his creation at the Frome cheese show in Somerset. Blunos selected the highest quality ingredients to create the double-layered dish.

He worked with experienced cheddar producers at Pilgrim’s Choice to create the bespoke white truffle cheese, which itself costs £92.
The chef used a £5 loaf of sourdough dressed with extra virgin olive oil and then layered cheese, slices of quail’s egg, heirloom black tomato, epicure apple, and fresh figs.

He added dainty mustard red frills, pea shoots and red amaranth for a salad layer and topped the whole masterpiece with edible gold dust.

Mr. Blunos has also applied to have his version of the lunchtime classic recognized as the most expensive cheese sandwich by Guinness World Records.
