Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014 Collection
De la Renta loves flowers of all persuasions. A gardener himself, on Sunday he hosted a tour of his Connecticut garden for participants of Bunny Williams’ Trade Secrets charity that combats domestic violence.
His weekend focus on the real thing led gracefully into a resort collection abundant with beautiful florals. Exquisite treatments were anything but garden variety, as de la Renta worked the colorful embroideries over black-and-white plaids on chic separates and day dresses.
Then a hand-crocheted series, including a great burgundy-and-ivory floral crochet tunic over a slim crocheted skirt.
Cocktail and evening dresses ranged from nipped-waist, tea-length silhouettes in mesh tulle with floral embroideries to bold gowns done in vivid colours, such as an apple-green silk faille style sprinkled with violet taffeta flowers.
