SUQQU THE LIQUID FOUNDATION e Review

SUQQU’s cult Liquid Foundation just got an upgrade, and it’s even more radiant

Reformulations are nothing new in beauty. Brands tweak textures, refine shade ranges, improve longevity and often promise more than they deliver. But every now and then, a reformulation genuinely feels like evolution rather than marketing.

When I heard that SUQQU was relaunching its beloved liquid base as The Liquid Foundation e, I was intrigued. I’ve long been a fan of the original SUQQU The Liquid Foundation – it’s one of those quietly exceptional luxury formulas that delivers polished, luminous skin without ever looking heavy.

Launched on 12th February this year, the new foundation promises smoother wear, heightened luminosity and refined colour clarity. After wearing shade 265 for the past week and a half, here’s my honest review.

What’s new about SUQQU THE LIQUID FOUNDATION e?

SUQQU reformulated foundation

The original formula was already known for its seamless, radiant finish, powered by SUQQU’s breakthrough “Fluid Pigment” technology.

This innovation allowed pigments traditionally used in powder form to be formulated in a fluid state, creating a veil of colour that spreads evenly across the skin rather than sitting in powdery dots. With THE LIQUID FOUNDATION e, that technology remains but the glow has been elevated.

According to the brand, the new formula is enriched with a higher amount of high-luminosity oils, designed to create a smoother texture and a more radiant finish. It also includes 12 botanical extracts sourced in Japan for lasting hydration, including aloe leaf extract, camellia and sodium hyaluronate.

There are now 24 shades available across SPF20, SPF25 and SPF30 options, with selected shades recalibrated for more natural undertone balance.

On paper, it sounds like refinement rather than reinvention. On the skin? It feels exactly that but in the best possible way.

My skin type

For reference, I have combination skin. I’m prone to a slightly oilier T-zone, but I also want hydration and radiance rather than a flat matte finish.

I’ve been wearing shade 265, which sits within the SPF20 category, and have tested it during full working days, long hours, central heating, commuting, and everything in between.

Texture, application and finish

SUQQU THE LIQUID FOUNDATION e shade 265 blended into skin showing luminous finish

From the first pump, the texture feels refined. It’s fluid, but not runny. Lightweight, but not sheer.

It blends effortlessly, whether applied with a brush or fingers and immediately gives that signature SUQQU glow. The coverage is medium, enough to even out tone and soften imperfections without masking the skin underneath.

What stands out most is how it feels. It genuinely feels like second skin. There’s no heaviness, no tightness, no sense that you’re “wearing” foundation. Instead, it melts in and becomes part of your complexion.

And compared to the original? The characteristics are similar – seamless, smooth, polished but this version delivers a noticeably more dewy glow. Not shiny. Not greasy. Just fresher and more luminous.

Wear test – does it actually last?

In short, yes. On my combination skin, it lasts all day without breaking apart. There’s no creasing around the nose or smile lines, and it doesn’t settle into pores.

Even in my oil-prone areas, it maintains its smoothness without sliding. The finish stays luminous rather than turning overly shiny, which can often happen with glow-focused foundations.

What I particularly appreciate is that the increased luminosity hasn’t compromised longevity. Sometimes, more glow equals less staying power. That isn’t the case here.

By the end of the day, my skin still looks even, hydrated and refined. There’s natural wear, of course, but nothing patchy or uneven.

Shade 265 swatch and undertone

Shade 265 sits beautifully within the medium depth range and works well for warmer undertones. It blends seamlessly into my skin without oxidising or pulling overly red.

The recalibration of shades, which SUQQU highlights feels noticeable. The tone looks balanced and natural, never muddy or flat.

If you’re familiar with the original shade 265, this still feels true to tone, but perhaps slightly clearer and more refined in how it reflects light.

This is not a foundation for someone who wants full, matte, high-coverage glam. It’s for those who want medium coverage with skin still visible, a luminous, polished finish, long wear without heaviness and a luxury texture that feels refined

It’s particularly suited to those who enjoy a glow without greasiness. Dry skin types will likely love the added luminosity, while very oily skin types may prefer to set strategically.

If you dislike powdery finishes, this is an especially strong option. Thanks to the continued use of Fluid Pigment technology, the finish remains silky and free from that chalky look some foundations can leave.

Is it worth £71?

At £71, this firmly sits in luxury territory. It’s not for every budget and it doesn’t try to be. But if you’re someone who appreciates premium base products and is willing to invest in skin that looks effortlessly polished, I would say yes. It’s absolutely worth it.

The upgrade doesn’t radically change the DNA of the original, and that’s precisely why it works. Instead, it refines and enhances what was already strong; delivering more luminosity without sacrificing smoothness or longevity.

“If you loved the original, you’ll appreciate this and if you’re new to SUQQU, this is a beautiful place to start.”

Final verdict

SUQQU THE LIQUID FOUNDATION e is a thoughtful evolution rather than a dramatic overhaul. It keeps the seamless smoothness that made the original so popular, but adds a fresher, more dewy glow that feels modern and light-reflective. On my combination skin, it lasts all day, doesn’t crease and maintains its refined finish beautifully.

In a beauty landscape full of constant launches, this feels like a considered update and a reminder of how good luxury foundation can look when done properly. For me, it earns its place.
