Taylors Unveils 150 Year Old Pre-Phylloxera Port

Taylors Scion goes on sale.
Taylors has unveiled this rare 150 year old pre-phylloxera tawny port priced at £2,500 ($3,935) per bottle. Phylloxera is a microscopic aphid that nearly destroyed all of France’s vineyards between 1860 and 1900 meaning any grape-based drink from that period is highly collectible.

Called Taylor’s Scion, it has been maturing in the Douro since 1855, it comes packaged in a special wooden box based on a 19th century instrument case, this port is limited to 1,400 bottles.
