Fans of The Ivy’s legendary Shepherd’s Pie are in for a delicious surprise this autumn. Starting Saturday, 4th October, The Ivy Collection restaurants nationwide will be serving up a limited-edition Shepherd’s Pie Dessert – a sweet twist on one of its most iconic dishes.Available until 25th October, this new creation reimagines the beloved comfort food as a decadent dessert that’s bound to both tantalise tastebuds and confound expectations.
Despite its uncanny resemblance to the savoury classic, there’s not a single pea or potato in sight. Every element has been carefully designed to look like the real thing, but in sweet form. A fluffy carrot cake base hides a silky smooth melting chocolate dome, filled with a creamy chocolate ice cream centre. Topped with whipped cream (disguised as mashed potato), a digestive biscuit crumb, and candied rosemary, the dessert is served with a warm chocolate sauce and a “Worcester sauce” made entirely of maple syrup.
“The Ivy Shepherd’s Pie has always been one of our most loved dishes,” says Sean Burbidge, Executive Chef at The Ivy Collection. “We wanted to have some fun with it and surprise our guests in a way that still feels true to our heritage. By reimagining it as a dessert, we’ve taken the comfort and nostalgia people associate with the classic and given it a playful, seasonal twist. It’s indulgent, a little unexpected, and above all – delicious.”
