Every now and then, London surprises you with a hidden gem that blends style, serenity, and soul, and that’s exactly what I found at The Welbeck Hotel in Marylebone.
Invited for an overnight experience, I checked in for 24 hours of calm, comfort and curated lifestyle moments – from skincare to elegant dining and wandering the charming streets of Marylebone.
Located just steps from Oxford Street yet tucked away from the bustle, The Welbeck is perfect for anyone looking to indulge in a city stay with a slower, softer pace. Whether you’re a solo traveller, or simply craving a chic overnight escape, this little haven in W1 deserves your attention.

Central Location with Village Vibes
One of The Welbeck Hotel’s standout features is its enviable location. Nestled in the heart of Marylebone, it offers the best of both worlds: easy access to London’s iconic shopping streets and transport links, with all the charm and calm of a neighbourhood village.
Just a short walk from Bond Street and Oxford Circus, it’s perfectly placed for a weekend of discovery – from the boutiques of Marylebone High Street to the leafy strolls of Regent’s Park. And yet, once inside the hotel, the city’s chaos melts away.
During my stay, I explored a few of Marylebone’s favourite spots; including a browse at Daunt Books, one of London’s most iconic independent bookshops, and a leisurely lunch at Carlotta, an effortlessly cool Italian restaurant just around the corner and a facial at Dr Haus Dermatology on Harley Street .
Whether you’re popping in for business or taking some ‘me’ time for pleasure, The Welbeck offers a central base without the noise. It’s a true urban retreat.

Warm Welcome and Thoughtful Touches
From the moment I stepped through the doors of The Welbeck Hotel, I was made to feel at home. The check-in process was smooth and fuss-free, just what you want after a busy day in the city.
The interiors strike the perfect balance between modern and inviting. Think warm tones, soft lighting, plush textures, and elegant details that feel considered but never overdone.
One thing that truly stood out during my stay was the level of care and personalisation. From the curated selection of teas in the room (my beloved Earl Grey made a comforting start to the morning), and the beautiful silk skincare products provided by John Bell & Croyden, to ‘The Welbeck Wanderer’ – a map filled with favourite local spots worth exploring; it’s clear that The Welbeck goes the extra mile for guests.

My Room: Elegant, Cosy and Functional
My room at The Welbeck Hotel was a true reflection of the boutique charm the hotel embodies. Compact, yes – but exceptionally well thought out. Every inch of the space was designed with intention, balancing style and practicality in a way that felt both indulgent and efficient.
The room featured plush bedding, warm lighting, and tasteful design accents – from statement light fixtures to soft furnishings that added a touch of luxury without feeling overdone. It had a calm and cocooning atmosphere that made it easy to unwind.
A personal highlight was the in-room fruit tray, as well as the tea and coffee station. Always a nice touch, but made even better by the thoughtful selection of premium teas. Sipping my morning Earl Grey by the window set the perfect tone for the day.
And let’s not forget the bathroom. Though compact, it was spotless and well-equipped, with a great shower and generous mirror space for skincare lovers like me. It had everything I needed to get ready for a full day in Marylebone.

Skincare and Self-Care
My morning at The Welbeck began with a slow, nourishing ritual – my favourite kind of start. I made myself a cup of Earl Grey tea and settled by the window with my skincare essentials, all provided by John Bell & Croyden, who always make sure I’m pampered with the latest in luxury beauty.
This time, it was a selection from This is Silk, a British brand just launched in store and known for its gentle, skin-loving formulations. From cleanser to moisturising face oil, everything was silky in texture and soothing in effect. The kind of self-care moment that makes a staycation feel truly restorative.
I will need more time with the products for a full review but it definitely made a good first impression.

A Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
After a slow and indulgent start to the morning, I ordered breakfast to my room, and it didn’t disappoint. I opted for the Belgian waffles, served warm with rich chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries. It was comfort food elevated – sweet, satisfying, and beautifully plated.
To drink, I chose a vibrant yellow smoothie made with orange, turmeric, and black pepper, the perfect blend to awaken the senses and boost wellness. Refreshing and just a little zingy, it balanced the sweetness of the waffles perfectly.
The setting was relaxed and calm, making it a lovely moment to take in the morning light and enjoy a moment of stillness before heading out to explore more of Marylebone.

Exploring Marylebone: Bookstores, Boutiques & Skincare Gems
After a delicious breakfast, I stepped out to explore one of London’s most charming neighbourhoods – Marylebone. Known for its leafy streets, independent shops, and calm village feel in the heart of the city, it’s a place where you can easily spend hours wandering, and that’s exactly what I did with the help of ‘The Welbeck Wanderer’.
A Literary Gem: Daunt Books
First stop was the iconic Daunt Books on Marylebone High Street. Housed in an original Edwardian bookshop, it’s a dream for book lovers with its long oak galleries, skylights, and travel-themed book arrangements. I browsed everything from books on local neighbourhoods to travel memoirs, soaking in the quiet beauty of the space. It brought out the bookworm in me and is the kind of place that invites you to slow down and lose yourself in stories – a rare treasure in a fast-paced city.

A Taste of Brazil: Treasures of Brazil Marylebone
Next, I popped into Treasures of Brazil, a beautiful lifestyle boutique offering vibrant home décor, accessories, and artisanal finds inspired by Brazilian culture. The textures, colours, and craftsmanship instantly transported me, a reminder of how retail can be a cultural experience in itself. This store epitomises what I love about exploring Marylebone – I had never heard of it and it turned out to be a true gem. Their eco-friendly jewellery and skincare range were the highlights for me and I can’t wait to go back and pick up a few treats

Luxury Resale: Consigned Sealed Delivered
For fashion lovers, Marylebone doesn’t disappoint. I stopped by Consigned Sealed Delivered, a beautifully curated boutique specialising in pre-loved designer pieces. From vintage Chanel to current-season Bottega, it’s a treasure trove for the sustainably stylish. Whether you’re hunting for a statement bag or browsing for inspiration, this boutique blends luxury with a circular fashion ethos effortlessly.

Skincare Sanctuary: Dr. Haus Dermatology
No visit to Marylebone is complete without a little self-care, so I made my way to Dr Haus Dermatology for a signature HydraFacial. I found the treatment to be the perfect reset for my skin. Deep cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, and that signature post-facial glow – who could resist? My therapist explained every step, and the whole experience felt both clinical and indulgent in the best way possible. It was the ideal way to wrap up my Marylebone escape before check-out.

Final Thoughts: Boutique Bliss at The Welbeck Hotel
My overnight stay at The Welbeck Hotel was more than just a place to lay my head – it was a full experience that combined thoughtful design, excellent hospitality, and the vibrant heart of Marylebone right at my doorstep.
From the warm welcome and pampering touches from John Bell & Croyden, to stylish dining at Carlotta, and rejuvenation via a Hydrafacial at Dr Haus Dermatology, every moment felt curated and personal.
And with the buzz of Marylebone Village, independent shopping at Treasures of Brazil and Consigned Sealed Delivered, and bookish serenity at Daunt Books just minutes away, it’s the kind of stay that reminds you why London is always a good idea.
The Welbeck Hotel has definitely earned a spot on my “where to stay in London” list, and I have a feeling I’ll be back soon.
