Review: Spring Restaurant

Housed in the New Wing of the iconic Somerset House, Spring is a restaurant owned by acclaimed chef Skye Gyngell.

It’s a very beautiful and elegant dining space with a daily changing, seasonal menu.

DECOR

White colour scheme with gigantic mirrors and arty globular chandeliers lighting that’s very elegant and beautiful to look at. It also has an orangery-style inner salon.

DRINKS

Normally we’d pick a bottle of wine and stick with it the entire meal but there was a sommelier on hand to suggest different wines with our various courses so we got to try two different wines. The wine list is extensive and largely from France, then Italy, Germany, Austria, Portugal and New World.

MAINS

Roasted wild salmon with red peppers, aubergines, yellow wax beans and salsa verde (£34) and Veal chop with Cafe du Paris butter, borlotti and slow cooked courgettes (£36). Both mains were delicious, especially the veal which was cooked to perfection; the salmon was slightly salty.

Spring is elegant and has a great ambience. The rustic Italian inspired menu is imaginative and not at risk of going stale with its daily changed ingredients.
