The Country Weekend Collection by Jane Iredale has been out since March, so I’ve had a chance to try it properly and I think it’s the perfect time for a review.
Inspired by tranquil countryside landscapes, the collection features a Limited Edition Getaway Eyeshadow kit, Espresso Jelly Jar, Gel Eyeliner and Forever Peach Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain.
The Limited Edition Getaway Eyeshadow kit – £39.95
This eyeshadow comes in 5 pure pressed shades; Fresh Air – a shimmery pearl, Silence – a shimmery golden peach, Footprints – a matte green grey, Tea on the Porch – a shimmery copper gold and Starry Night – a shimmery black. I found this eyeshadow very wearable; it’s simple to blend, buttery in fact; crease free and long lasting. I love the way in glides on, of course the dual-ended applicator it comes with helps. I love neutrals this time of year and these five shades cater for any look, from day to night which is handy when away and have packed light. Check out the swatches below.
Espresso Jelly Jar – £19.95
This Espresso Jelly Jar is shimmery brown grey in colour. It’s soft and creamy and creates a kohl look. It comes in a compact pod and it’s water resistant. I was apprehensive when it came to testing this product because I don’t like anything near my eyes. I don’t wear eyeliners or lashes because I either get a reaction where my eyes water for hours or become red and extremely itchy. I must say the Angel Eyeliner brush made it surprisingly easy to apply this Espresso Jelly Jar, it was precise so there was no danger of me poking myself in the eye. Thankfully, I had no reaction, allergic or otherwise. I’ve actually taken to wearing this eyeliner daily now …
Forever Peach Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain – £22
This multi-purpose lip and cheek stain is made of olive and avocado butter, it softens lips and gives it a lovely glossy look. According to the brand, it adopts to the wearer’s skin tone and gives the cheeks a lovely colour and glow. That may be true with paled skinned wearers but for people of colour, it’s barely noticeable on dark lips or cheeks. It acts more like a lip gloss than a lip stain but I still love how soft it makes lips.
