Just before Mother’s Day this year, Aldi’s Lacura beauty brand dropped something a little more elevated than the usual dupe-heavy launch. The new Five-Type Hyaluronic Acid skincare range landed with sleek, premium-looking packaging, a high-performing ingredients list, and a low price tag.
And while we don’t always review every Lacura release (they launch a lot), this one stood out. From the look and feel of the products to the idea of not one but five types of Hyaluronic Acid, we knew we had to try it.
Why a Five-Type Hyaluronic Acid Range?
According to Lacura, more of us are looking for preventative skincare – products that support youthful skin before the signs of ageing kick in. Hyaluronic Acid is one of the most trusted ingredients for this, and the idea here is to amplify its effects by combining multiple forms in one formula.
Here’s what makes the HA5+ complex special:
- Low and high molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid: One sinks deep into the skin for long-lasting hydration, while the other forms a barrier on the surface to lock in moisture and add an instant plumping effect.
- Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer: Delivers immediate hydration and helps maintain skin smoothness.
- Hydrolysed Hyaluronic Acid: Replenishes moisture and helps visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines.
The range also includes:
- Natural Biopolymer: Helps smooth skin and enhance water retention.
- Essential Oils: Including Acacia and Almond Oil for softness and skin conditioning.
What’s in the Five-Type Hyaluronic Acid Range?
Lacura HA5+ Day Cream (£7.99, 50ml)

This is your morning go-to for soft, hydrated skin. It absorbs quickly, leaving a matte finish that doubles as a primer. With ingredients like Acacia, Almond Oil, Shea Butter and UV filters, it promises lasting moisture – but do note, there’s no official SPF rating, so don’t skip your sunscreen.
Lacura HA5+ Night Cream (£7.99, 50ml)

Even thicker than the Day Cream, this one is designed to help prevent overnight moisture loss. It’s packed with Watermelon Seed Oil, absorbs fast, and makes a nice final step in your evening routine.
Lacura HA5+ Serum (£6.99, 50ml)

This lightweight, gel-textured serum delivers hydration and tightening with Citric Acid and Acacia. While it takes a few tries to draw enough product from the pipette, it layers well under moisturiser and makeup and sinks in with zero residue.
Lacura HA5+ Eye Cream (£4.99, 15ml)

Light, almost watery in texture – exactly what you want for the delicate under-eye area. It claims to reduce puffiness and fine lines, and while the effects are subtle, it feels soothing and sits beautifully under concealer.
Look and Feel
Packaging-wise, it’s giving premium and wouldn’t look out of place on a top-shelf skincare display.
Texture-wise, the Day Cream and Night Cream both feel creamy without being greasy. The Serum is the thickest of the lot and takes a moment to absorb, while the Eye Cream melts instantly into skin. What’s missing, however, is that rich, instant “hydrated glow” you often get from Hyaluronic-based products. These formulas are fast-absorbing to the point where you might not even notice you’ve applied anything – no dewiness, no sheen.
How Hydrating is the HA5+ Range?
To test, I used the BeautyPro Hydratest Tool to track my skin’s hydration. I started at 40% (a healthy baseline), which increased to 42%, then 45% after applying the full routine. So yes, hydration improves over time, even if it doesn’t feel instantly dramatic on application.
Final Thoughts
The Lacura HA5+ range offers a full skincare routine – serum, day cream, night cream and eye cream for less than £30, which is impressive.
The packaging looks high-end and the ingredient list is promising. However, it doesn’t necessarily translate to the feel of the products on skin. It lacks a certain richness and luxurious feel we’ve come to expect from premium skincare. So if you’re after that luxurious, dewy finish, this might fall slightly short.
That said, if you’re looking for gentle hydration, fragrance-free formulas, this is well worth grabbing – if you can.
As with most Lacura drops, it flew off shelves fast. But if past launches are anything to go by, there’s a good chance it’ll return. Keep an eye out.
