From Sencha to matcha, and every variety in between, green tea is one of the healthiest drinks in the world. Known for its many health benefits, not least it’s antioxidants and detoxing abilities. But did you also know it has many skincare and hair benefits? Yes, green tea infused beauty products can reduce the loss of hair. Also because it contains polyphenols and vitamins E and C, can stimulate hair growth and soften the hair.
Green tea can also help treat scalp flaking and dandruff because it has antiseptic properties, making it essential in reducing inflammation, and hence preventing and even curing dandruff and psoriasis.
When it comes to skincare, green tea has anti-inflammatory properties that reduces irritation, redness, and swelling. It also contains Vitamin B2 and Vitamin E, both essential for skin health maintenance. B2 helps maintain collagen levels for firm, youthful skin while Vitamin E supports new skin cell growth and hydrates skin for soft and nourished skin.
Finally, the caffeine and tannins in green tea help shrink blood vessels around the eyes, making it a great treatment for puffy eyes and dark circles.
Now that we know how awesome green tea is, here are some of my favourite green tea beauty products you must try for radiant skin and hair.
Fuji Green Tea™ Refreshingly Purifying Shampoo and Hydrating Conditioner
The Body Shop’s Fuji Green Tea range is one of my favourite hair care products. It’s enriched with revitalising Japanese green tea which helps to cleanse and remove impurities leaving hair and scalp feeling invigoratingly fresh.
Another favourite is this Fuji Green Tea™ Refreshingly Purifying Cleansing Hair Scrub
It’s a scrub and shampoo rolled into one. It blends Japanese green tea, mint menthol, salt crystals and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia into a gorgeous scrub that whisk away impurities like dust, smoke, sweat and styling residue while help stimulate blood flow to the scalp.
Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask
I’m a firm believer in masking once or twice a week to keep clogged pores at bay so I love this Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask. It’s enriched with matcha green tea from Kakegawa, Japan, dandelion extract and soul-soothing Community Trade aloe vera from Mexico. It has a creamy formula that deeply purifies, gently exfoliates and liberates skin from the weekly build-up of city pollutants and everyday impurities to reveal radiant, younger-looking skin.
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Honey Drops Body Cream
This is just an all round moisturising body cream that nourishes and pampers the body. It’s infused with a blend of real honey and fragrant green tea extract that helps to calm and condition dry skin. It also has a fresh and uplifting fragrance that lifts mood almost immediately.
ELF Redness Relief Express Mask
Another mask I’m new to but loving. It’s a cooling gel mask that helps reduce redness, cool down, and refresh the complexion. It’s infused with soothing cucumber and green tea. Apply to face for 2-minutes for ultra hydration without clogging pores. As E.L.F themselves describes it, it’s like a tall glass of ice water for your face!
Beauty Pro Rejuvenating Collagen Mask with Green Tea Extract
This Mask is perfect for problematic skin, it balances and improves oily and dry conditions while reducing redness. The results after use is softer, supple skin with a youthful glow.
Garnier Moisture Bomb Green Tea Tissue Mask
This Tissue Mask is perfect for you if you have combination skin with dehydrated zones and areas prone to shine and you are looking for an effective solution to help re-balance the look and feel of your skin.
I just love how potent green tea infused products are; I’m always on the prowl for new products to try. Have you tried any of the above products?
