Double cleansing is not a new phenomenon, it’s been around for a while and this Erborian Centella Cleansing duo promises to do a good job. It was launched earlier this year (Feb), and I’ve tried them separately with other products and tried them together; like peanut butter and banana sandwiches, they work better together so it’s advisable to use them together for the best results.
Why Double cleansing?
Double cleansing is exactly what it says, cleansing your face twice. First, with an oil-based cleanser and again with a water-based cleanser.
Dermatologists recommend adding double cleansing to our night time skincare routine as it’s effective in removing stubborn, pore-clogging, and acne-causing impurities that have accumulated on the skin after a long day. It’s especially good for those who live in cities as pollution is one of the main causes of dirt build-up on skin that causes other skincare issues such as aging.
This new Erborian Cleansing duo is powered by Centella Asiatica, a super ingredient in Korea. Also known as Tiger Grass because as legend has it, big cats when wounded would roll in their leaves to take advantage of its soothing properties.
It also contains Centella Extract and Bisabolife for soothing, Sweet Almond Oil for moisturising, and Sunflower Oil for added moisture.
Together, this duo removes stubborn traces of makeup from the skin, eliminates impurities and excess sebum and helps to soothe and moisturise the skin.
Centella Cleansing Oil
As the first step, this cleansing oil removes makeup (including waterproof makeup), excess sebum, and impurities while helping to maintain the skin’s natural moisture. It leaves skin feeling soothed and moisturised.
Simply apply a pump or two to the skin and massage the face and eye area with circular movements for about a minute. Then add water – the oil turns milky when it comes in contact with water while it removes all dirt and makeup thoroughly without residue.
Centella Cleansing Gel
The second step is this cleansing gel which catches any remaining impurities the cleansing oil didn’t get. It helps purify, soothe and moisturise the skin. Apply to a wet face, including the eye area and massage gently with circular motions again. Rinse thoroughly.
This double cleansing duo does what it says on the tin and is really good at it. It leaves skin feeling clean and clear after use and I found it to be very soothing.
It does have a light fragrance but doesn’t overwhelm which is good for people who are sensitive to smells.
