Review: I Tried the New Radiofrequency Facial at re:lax Skin Studio

Nestled in the stylish, bustling Borough Yards near London Bridge, re:lax Skin Studio is known for offering holistic, science-backed skincare in a tranquil setting,  and they’ve just launched a brand new Radiofrequency Facial designed to lift, tone and smooth the skin.

Always up for trying the latest innovations in skincare, I was invited to experience this non-invasive treatment for myself, and here’s everything you need to know.

What is a Radiofrequency Facial?

If you’re new to the term, radiofrequency (RF) is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses low-level heat waves to penetrate the deeper layers of skin. The result? Boosted collagen and elastin production, leading to tighter, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

What makes this particular treatment stand out at re:lax is the addition of:

  • Mechanical lymphatic drainage, to help reduce puffiness and detoxify the skin.
  • LED light therapy, which targets fine lines, inflammation and improves skin tone.

This combination makes it ideal for treating areas like the face, neck and décolletage – all without needles or downtime.

First Impressions: From Borough Market Chaos to Pure Calm

After navigating the lively streets of Borough Market (and sweating through a London heatwave), stepping into the re:lax treatment room felt like a complete shift in energy. Quiet, cool, and thoughtfully designed, it was a welcome escape from the chaos outside.

My treatment began with a gentle cleanse to remove surface impurities, followed by a head, neck and shoulder massage –  a lovely and grounding start before the tech-forward treatment kicked in.

What the Treatment Feels Like

The therapist then applied the radiofrequency device, which gently glided across the skin while emitting heat into the deeper layers. I’ll be honest –  there were moments where the warmth became a little uncomfortable, but my therapist was quick to adjust the temperature settings to suit my tolerance and she was attentive throughout the treatment to ensure I was comfortable with the heat level.

One of the most pleasant sensations came from the suction element, which gently lifted the skin –  part of the treatment’s mechanical lymphatic drainage technique. It felt both relaxing and effective, like a mini facelift without the scalpel.

The 60-minute session wrapped with LED light therapy and barrier-repairing skincare to lock in hydration and sun protection.

Results: How My Skin Looked & Felt After One Treatment

While I’m not currently concerned about wrinkles or sagging, I did notice an instant glow and a plumper, more hydrated feel to my skin post-treatment. My skin looked visibly refreshed, radiant and incredibly soft to the touch, and that glow has lasted well into the week.

For anyone dealing with fine lines, loss of firmness, or general dullness, this facial could be a real game changer.

What the Experts Say

According to Katie White, Founder of re:lax and Master Facialist:

“Radiofrequency is the perfect treatment for tightening skin that has lost elasticity, tone and texture… For me, the results were instant. My skin was noticeably tighter and my fine lines reduced.”

Katie recommends a course of six treatments, ideally one week apart, followed by monthly maintenance sessions to see lasting improvements in firmness, tone and wrinkle reduction.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?

If you’re looking for an advanced, non-invasive facial that combines technology and relaxation, this is one to try. It’s a clever mix of deep skin work with spa-like calm, ideal if you want visible results without needles, downtime, or aggressive treatments.

I wouldn’t recommend it during a heatwave but thankfully, those are rare in the UK

Whether you’re beginning to notice signs of ageing or just want to give your skin a boost, re:lax’s new Radiofrequency Facial offers a science-backed path to stronger, smoother, more radiant skin.
