Back in December, Lush upped their game in the world of makeup by launching a whole lot of products – think foundations, concealers, highlighters and a whopping 82 lipstick shades.
All the products are vegan, naturally sauced and environmentally friendly. Aside from the all-natural, vegan ingredients, the products have very creative packaging to make them environmentally friendly and I’m all for that. Here are a few of my highlights from the new makeup range:
Slap Sticks Solid Foundations
Starting with the foundations, one thing I’d say about the foundation is that it is an extensive range. I’d be surprised if you didn’t find your shade because I found mine immediately and that almost never happens.
The foundations and concealers are solids so application is quite easy, just draw a few lines on your face and then blend with a brush or sponge. It can also be melted into an old foundation case
Made from a sweet almond oil and shea butter base, the foundations are very hydrating and glides on very easily but are also very oily – you might want to have your baking powder standing by. They also stain hands and clothes very easily so be aware. I found the foundation to have great coverage, a little goes a long way but it’s also very oily. I found myself having to dab my face with tissues several times during the day to get rid of the shine.
Launching 82 lipstick shades in one day is no mean feat and trying them all is an even harder feat I couldn’t accomplish but here are a few that caught my eye.
The main thing about these lipsticks is that OMG they are so moisturising. The moment I applied it, I literally felt a change in the texture of my lips – they became very soft and smooth.
Here are a few swatches of the shades I have.
Finally, my other favourite – solid highlighters called Glow Sticks!
OMG, they look so beautiful on skin. I’m told they’re made with artisan oils and waxes making them versatile in creating looks for every occasion.
Again it comes with creative packaging which in this case is no packaging – it’s been dipped in peelable, vegan wax to make handling and applying it is easy, also the shape makes it easier to apply to high points of the face such as cheekbones, brow bones, cupid’s bow, the bridge of your nose.
I like the texture and moisturising properties of the lipsticks very much and some of the shades are beautiful but my ultimate favourites from the entire makeup range has to be the highlighters. They look so beautiful on skin!
The entire range is such a big commitment from Lush, especially the extensive foundation shades. Although it’ll be nice if they weren’t so oily, but that’s the price we have to pay for such a hydrating foundation. As I mentioned earlier, the range is quite extensive, visit the website to check it out.
