www.lifeandsoullifetyle.com - A review of the Jurlique Herbal Recovery range

Review: Jurlique Herbal Recovery

ORLY

[Sample/ unpaid] Everyone’s favourite natural skincare brand, Jurlique recently launched their latest skincare range – Jurlique Herbal Recovery. When I say recently, I mean early March and when I say everyone’s favourite natural skincare brand, I mean to know Jurlique is to love it. Especially if ‘clean beauty’ is your thing.

Every ingredient is grown on their own Jurlique farm in Adelaide Hills in South Australia which has been designated as one of the purest places on earth.

All the botanicals used in their products are harvested at their peak and processed in a way to preserve their effectiveness. I say all this to say, I’m a big fan of their skincare products because they aren’t just beautiful to look, they are very well made and effective too.

But I digress, let me get back to the new Jurlique Herbal Recovery Collection. It was made because Jurlique wanted to help us combat the environmental stressors our skin goes through daily.

And come to think of it, we should all be worried. Yes, about the environment itself but also what it does to our skin. Traditionally, city dwellers have worried more about skin pollution but really the air is bad everywhere these days.

Soon as we step out of the door, our skin encounters dirt in the air, second hand cigarette smoke, sunlight, infrared radiation, hot and cold temperatures all of which causes cellular damage to our skin.

So, stripping all the advertising mumbo jumbo away, the new Jurlique Herbal Recovery Collection at its core is an anti-pollution range that protects our skin from environmental pollution when we’re out and about and help it recover when we’re back home.

There are four products in the collection – Herbal Recovery Cream, Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum, Herbal Recovery Eye Roll-On and Herbal Recovery Face Oil; all made from Jurlique’s new Recovery Blend containing four botanicals from their farm.

Key botanicals include Holy Bail – a very potent adaptogen and antioxidant that helps minimise the signs of skin ageing; Iris Root which helps the skin recover from stress and fatigue, Echinacea which acts as an antioxidant against environmental stressors and Black Elderflower which helps exfoliate dull skin to reveal a brighter and younger looking version.

I received two samples from the collection – the Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum and Herbal Recovery Eye Roll-On which I have put to the test for the past 3 weeks.

I simply added the two products to my morning skincare routine, after all what better time to shield skin from environmental aggressors than when I’m about to encounter it during the day.

Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum

You’ve probably seen the word ‘Bi-Phase’ popping up a lot recently and my suspicion is more skincare brands will start taking this approach in their formulations because of its lightweight and fast-absorbing benefits.

Bi-Phase formulas like this one deliver both hydration and nourishment at the same time in one application. The water-based phase provides hydration to the skin, helping to improve its moisture levels, plumpness and elasticity, while the oil-based phase delivers the protection and nourishment in the highly active botanicals and help to protect the skin against outside pollution.

This Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum acts as an antioxidant to fight against signs of ageing like wrinkles and fine lines. While the Bi-Phase formula ensures skin is also hydrated.

I found the texture to be very lightweight so the skin laps it up quickly leaving no residue behind. Which makes it the perfect product to sit between my toner and moisturiser

I wouldn’t call it fragranced although there is a faint botanic smell when you first uncap the serum which isn’t unpleasant but dissipates almost immediately.

Simply shake, warm 4-6 drops in your palms, and gently press evenly onto the face, neck and decolletage.

Herbal Recovery Eye Roll-On

They had me at ‘eye roll – on’ with this product. Easy application is everything and a roll on means the product goes exactly where it’s supposed to.

The product itself works to massage and smooth wrinkles around the eyes while delivering the all-important ingredients.

Again, it’s lightweight and absorbs very quickly which isn’t always the case with eye creams – usually, you’re left waiting for the area to become less soggy to apply makeup.

The roll-on tip is also cooling which in itself helps depuff the eye area.

Tip: Keep both products in the fridge. The cold keeps the antioxidants potent for longer and it feels fantastic on skin when applied.

Trialling these products have been nothing but a love fest for me. They are so easy to incorporate into any skincare routine which is important because with a starting price of £49 (Herbal Recovery Eye Roll-On) not everyone can afford the entire range. Still, one or two pieces will still fit in any skincare routine and provide that all important protection against the effects of environmental aggressors.

So, does it work?

Well, Jurlique’s own research found that 90% of users agreed that the Bi-Phase Serum made their skin more hydrated; 85% said their skin texture became more refined and 81% saw an increase in skin’s radiance. Again 80%+ said their skin became softer and more supple after using the Eye Oil Roll on.

While I don’t have any wrinkles yet for a before and after comparison; one thing that was very clear is the hydrating nature of the products. I’d go as far as to say my skin has been dewy after my morning skincare routine these past three weeks and knowing that it was also being protected from pollution as I went about my business is comforting.
