Review: Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask

The UK market is flooded with LED face masks, each promising a unique set of benefits. But does the Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask truly stand out from the crowd? Let’s find out.

Thank God the benefits of LED light therapy are no longer secrets only known to celebrities and the rich who visit Harley street.

The lifting of the veil means we all know that from fighting acne and reducing inflammation to stimulating collagen production and keeping signs of ageing at bay, LED light technology has a profound effect on skin for the better no matter its condition.

With so many LED light products currently on the market, it can be difficult sorting through what’s on offer, how many lights they have and what it means for your skin. To begin with, some products can have as many as seven different 7 light colours. What you need to know is that each light penerates the skin at different levels and target different skin concerns.

So, what sets this Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask apart? According to Omnilux, their Face mask is FDA approved and designed to deliver professional-grade LED light therapy at home. Unlike many other LED masks on the market, the Omnilux Contour Face is clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone, and enhance collagen production.

Trial period: Six months, 10 minutes a day.

Tested for: The Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask is said to be suitable for all skin types so I tested its suitability for my skin type which is combination skin, its ability to clear the occasional breakout and improve my skin tone as my skin gets very dry during winter and in the early months of spring.

The Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask comes with a manual which explains how it works and thanks to Omnilux’s Instagram page, I learned how to use the gadget in minutes.

Over the course of six months, I made it part of my skincare routine. I’d cleanse, tone and apply a serum to my skin (I usually go for vitamin C or Hyaluronic acid serum), and then wear the Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask for 10 minutes. There’s no need to time as it goes off on its own, automatically. After which I’d apply my moisturiser to complete the routine.

Omnilux recommends completing a full routine, i.e. moisturising before using the Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask. It’s up to the user I suppose but I somehow feel like my serum works harder when I wear the LED mask immediately after applying it.

The Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask is quite easy to use, although I’m not a fan of the head straps. It does hold up the flexible silicone face device but it felt uncomfortable to me, I think the straps need to be longer to accommodate the hairstyle of the wearer.

I do however like that it is portable, you don’t have to use it plugged into a power socket sitting in one spot. Even better, a single charge can last for over a week so you can move around and do other things whilst wearing the mask.

I found it quite effective at the time of the month when I had hormonal breakouts. They usually last 5 days and may leave some hyperpigmentation marks but with the continuous use of the Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask, breakouts disappeared within 2 days without any blackheads.

I also saw an improvement in my skin’s tone and texture which can get flaky due to dryness. My skin felt soft and supple throughout the trial period and with the dozens of research proving how effective red LED light and near-infrared light are at stimulating collagen and improving visible signs of ageing, I’m sure I won’t have to worry about wrinkles for a few decades yet.

I have tried a few devices in my day but this Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask is the closest to an in clinic light therapy treatment I’ve ever tried.

Priced at £350, the Omnilux Contour Face LED Mask can seem quite expensive compared to other LED masks on the market however when you consider the medical grade results, £350 suddenly seem reasonable compared to a single LED light therapy treatment on Harley Street.

Omnilux recently expanded their light therapy skincare gadgets to include a Contour Glove, Blemish Eraser, Contour Neck & Décolleté, among others. Visit their website to explore the range.
