I know about Got2b of course as a brand. I see it everywhere on social media. I always saw it as a fun and colourful brand with vibrant packaging and fun persona but I hadn’t tried any of its products until this week.To be honest, I’ve always seen Got2b as a brand for other peoples’ hair, not mine. I felt my hair is too thick and stubborn for their products.
I have natural hair now, after deciding to chop it all off at a Chop Chop press event almost two years ago. Since then, it’s grown back and gained some length but I’ve been unsure of what to do with it. Wearing hats and wigs had been fine during winter months but have become unpleasant during summer where all I want to do, is be care-free with my hair and let my scalp breathe.

A viable solution would be to put my hair in a protective style like braids but a childhood spent sitting in salons for hours waiting for my turn has left some scars so good luck getting me into a salon chair.
To be honest, natural hair influencers on Youtube have been my saving grace these past 18 months. I watch their tutorials for hours on Saturday mornings and try to replicate them on my wash days, with not so great results.
One thing I’ll say is natural hair requires a lot of styling gel. And my go-to – Cantu Beauty’s Styling Gel with Black Castor hasn’t done a great job with my hairstyles.
The best it can do for my hair is hold a style for a day and a half, and only if the hair is wet. Have you tried sleeping with soggy hair? It’s bloody awful and it itches. Also, as soon as the hair dries, the hairstyle falls apart leaving behind crunchy hair and white residue. An all-round unpleasant experience, trust me.

As the lockdown eases and shops open, I want to be able to go to venture outside without having to wear a hat or a hoodie to cover my unruly hair.
So it was part desperation and part intrigue that made me want to try the Got2b Glued styling range.
I needed hair products that can hold natural hairstyles in place for more than a day. But I was still sceptical – with names like Spiking wax and Spiking glue, I wondered if it could Gott2b Glued could really tame my hair and keep it in check. After all, I’m not looking to spike my hair into a Mohawk.
So far, I’ve been impressed. The range seems to hold my go-to hairstyle – the bun for more than a day. Here’s my current hairstyle, still in place after 7 days. The previous record had been a day and a half. There’s also no crunch or white residue.
I am a fan of Got2b Glued now, not because they have beautiful packaging but because it’s actually worked for my hair. I’m no hair guru but at least I can create an acceptable hairstyle I can show in public.
I do recommend it, especially if you’re at the end of your tether with stubborn, untameable hair.
