Winter Skincare: How to solve the problem of dry lips.

As if having chapped lips aren’t bad enough during the year, during winter, it can get considerably worse. From chapped to dry, then from dry to cracked lips, winter presents problems that makes soft, supple lips difficult to attain and maintain. The weather saps all the moisture out of the skin and the lips are usually the first to suffer.

But fear not, there are some fantastic lips scrubs and balms out there that keep lips smooth and luscious regardless the weather. Try our 5 favourites at least 3 times a week for excellent results:
Lush the Kiss Lip Scrub – £9.95 - Lush the Kiss Lip
Lush usually comes up with limited edition lip scrubs in different flavours and colours from time to time and we love them all. All natural with no preservatives, we love the current Kiss Lip Scrub introduced just in time for Valentine’s Day. Made with Caster Sugar, Safflower Oil , Fine Sea Salt , Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, among others; it has a sweet mandarin flavour, and is pink enough to give perfectly soft pink lips after use.

What we love:
Easy to use, just rubbing a pea size will have your lips clear of dead skin.
The many natural and moisturising oils instantly makes lips soft and supple in minutes.
It’s all natural so any excess can be licked off leaving lips perfectly pink and requiring no lipstick.
We are not so happy about: It can get messy when applying and stains (fingers and any clothing in close proximity)

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish & Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy – £19 & £21 - Lip scrubs - Lip scrubs review

Fresh’s Sugar Lip Polish does wonders for dry lips, it exfoliates and conditions for amazingly smooth, soft and supple lips but when used in tandem with the Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy, it not only provides 24hr moisturisation, it’s also has age delay qualities.

What we love:

-Although made with brown sugar, it’s less messy when applied thanks to its buttery feel.
-The Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy has anti-ageing qualities which is a bonus. It contains sea fennel which helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and define the lip area. It also contains orange extract which is rich in antioxidants that help protect the lips. Finally, it can be worn alone or as a base.

KIKO Lip Scrub -£5.90

Lip Scrub

KIKO has a wide range of lip treatments and we love their lip scrub which leaves the lips very soft not to mention devoid of dead skin. The scrub is gentle made of special crystals that exfoliate and soften the lips at the same. It is Hypoallergenic and Paraben free but unlike the other lip scrubs above, it is ingestible.

Apply the scrub by making small circles as you slowly move along the lips. Remove any excess with a tissue. Next, apply a moisturizing balm followed by lip make-up.

What we love:

-We love that the scrub comes in a in a convenient stick format that permits the perfect application and leaves no mess.

-It gives soft smooth lips from the very first application. It removes impurities and dead cells and prevents future dryness and cracking.

E.L.F. Cosmetics Studio Lip Exfoliator  – £7 - lip scrub review

This scrub we love because of it’s in a stick format and has a lot of nourishing oils (Vitamin E Shea Butter, Avocado Grape and Jojoba Oil ) to soothe and condition lips.

Apply to clean damp lips, massage in a circular motion and watch it remove dry chapped skin. Follow with a lip balm, or gloss to condition.
