Review: Erborian Super BB

Erborian skincare is at it again with the launch of their new Super BB. A beauty balm that promises the coverage of foundation and the skincare benefits of your favourite serum. We gave it a try for six weeks and here’s everything you need to know.

The new Erborian Super BB is an upgrade on their already popular BB Cream that delivers ultra-natural coverage for minor imperfections and comes in four tones – Clair, Nude, Dore, Caramel and Chocolat.

The new Super BB provides a higher coverage while caring for blemish-prone skin, to help it regain its natural balance.

The main ingredients in Super BB include Erborian’s star Korean Active ingredient, White Ginseng Complex. Its smoothing and moisturising properties have been combined with fermented Ginseng flower to enhance the effects of Super BB on skin.

It also contains 4% Niacinamide, a powerful active ingredient that reinforces the skin barrier to help combat moisture loss, dehydration and reduce skin imperfections.

Super BB also provides comfort for troubled and stressed skin with Glycerine and Jojoba oil, both of which work to improve skin suppleness and hydration.

Finally, Super BB contains mineral UV filters for SPF 20 UV protection.

The combined ingredients in the formula work together to give clearer skin, with noticeably fewer imperfections from the very first application and after 28 days of use. 

Verdict

After six weeks of use, we think Erborian Super BB is another winning product. 

First, we give Erborian credit for trying to expand their product palette for a wider skin tone pool. They tried but the effort was inadequate as not all dark skinned people fall in the category of caramel or chocolate. It feels like a quick afterthought to placate the market and cover the bases but the effort is noted. Hopefully, the next product will be more inclusive.

With that said, we very much loved the lightweight formula of Super BB. It glides onto skin very easily when applied with either fingers or a brush.

It also has good coverage but allows skin to breathe and has a dewy or sheen-like finish. We found that it has staying power and can last all day with no need for reapplication.

Of course, you can add more coverage by applying a foundation but if you’re looking for a BB cream to help your skin heal itself while giving you good coverage and a flawless finish; as we said, the Erborian Super BB is a winner. It’s the latest in a long line of Erborian hybrid products that close the gap between makeup and skincare.
