Loccitane has just launched three solid shampoos that are even more environmentally friendly and waste-free than their bottled liquid versions. The new solid shampoos are 100% plastic, silicone, and sulphate free. Each shampoo bar also contains 31.3g less plastic than the liquid shampoo equivalent and uses less water in its formulation so big wins for the environment but what about benefits for hair?
The new 5 essential oils Solid Shampoos come in three variations: a lavender scented Gentle and Balance bar, Intensive Repair bar and Purifying Freshness bar. So all three bars cater to different hair concerns.
Gentle & Balance Bar
Starting with my favourite out of the three, the Gentle and Balance bar because the lavender is soothing not only to the scalp but also to the senses. You’d find it to be very gentle, and cleansing to reveal clean and supple hair. It also gets you in some form of a zen state as the light scent of lavender wafts into your nostrils for a calm and relaxing experience. The main ingredients include 5 Essential Oils & Actives: PDO Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Rosemary, Chamomile with POD Lavender Essential Oil & Probiotic Natural Sugar Complex.
Intensive Repair Repair Bar
This is the bar for you if you have brittle hair damaged by colouring or excessive heat. The sunflower oil in this shampoo which is rich in vitamin E, will protect and nourish damaged, brittle hair. The amino acids in it will also improve hair structure and repair split ends.
Other ingredients include 5 Essential Oils & Actives: Angelica, Ylang-Ylang, Sweet Orange, Lavender, Geranium with Sunflower Oil & Oat Amino Acids.
Purifying Freshness Bar
Finally, there’s the Purifying Freshness Solid Shampoo, a mint-scented bar that gets rid of excess sebum (oils produced by the scalp) to keep hair and scalp clean and fresh with no build-up.
The main ingredients include 5 Essential Oils & Actives: Peppermint, Thyme, Grapefruit, Lavender, Cedar with Peppermint Essential Oil, Herbal Vinegar & Green Clay.
As someone who isn’t a big fan of ‘wash day’; there’s a lot I like about these new shampoo bars that actually make ‘wash days’ a lot more tolerable. First, these solid shampoos are easy to use, they are curved so fit perfectly into my palm. it’s sulphate and paraben-free, a quality I look for in all my hair care products.
Also, I’m using less water now because all I need to do is to wet my hair, apply the shampoo which lathers easily so there’s no need to stay in the shower until it’s time to rinse hair which saves water.
Another big plus for me with these solid shampoos is that the fragrance is subtle because it uses essential oils making them very soothing. I’ve been looking for hair care products with less overwhelming scents and these shampoos tick all the boxes.
Finally, I’ll say at £10 a bar, these shampoo bars are cost-effective because you get 20x more wash days out of them compared to bottled shampoos. What’s not to love?
