Vitamin C is one of my favourite Vitamins to talk about not just because it’s considered an essential vitamin, meaning it can’t be produced by the body. Apart from being important for our health, it also has many skincare and beauty benefits.
We need to ingest Vitamin C which in an ideal world would be through the many fruits and vegetables it can be found in like oranges, strawberries, kiwi fruit, bell peppers, broccoli, kale and spinach. But we don’t live in a perfect world and most of us barely have healthy eating habits. Given that the recommended daily intake for vitamin C is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men; here’s how I’ve taken to meeting my daily quota by incorporating Vitamin C into my everyday life. Here’s how:
Boost immunity
There’s nothing more annoying than persistent colds all year round but that’s a sign that you have lower Vitamin C levels. Vitamin C helps the production of white blood cells which help protect the body against infections and boosts our immune system. So every morning, I start my day with an immune system-boosting Vitamin C tea. I like this particular tea because one mug contains 17.6% of the recommended daily amount, and it’s a peach and orange flavour.
Brighten skin
Skincare lovers will know, that Vitamin C is one of the most potent natural skin brighteners around. Most beauty products that combat complexion issues almost always contain this vital vitamin. Two of my all-time favourite daily Vitamin C skincare products include Novexpert Booster with Vitamin C; I use this serum after cleansing and think of it as oranges in a bottle. It brightens dull and ashy complexion, as well as pigment marks. Just two pumps a day does the trick. I apply before moisturiser and makeup. Another serum I swear by is this Power 10 Effector Serum. Again, it brightens dull and ashy complexion.
Fight off wrinkles
The same antioxidant in Vitamin C that helps boost our immune system also fights harmful molecules called free radicals in the body. In our skin, this means fighting off wrinkles and delaying the ageing process in general. I use this Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening & Nourishing Face Oil to nourish, brighten and fight off wrinkles during the day.
It’s light and absorbs quickly without leaving a residue which is such a great quality in any skincare product. And despite all the amazing qualities of the main ingredient -Wild Rose, this oil is further infused with real rose petals, and boosted with Super C to increase the skin’s absorption of vitamin C by 1000% making this a very powerful anti-ageing oil.
I simply apply after my serum and before I apply a primer.
Boost energy
For those mid-afternoon energy dips, I always have a tub of Vitamin C effervescent tablets in my bag for an energy boost when I need it the most.
Just drop one in water and sip away to fight fatigue and everyday tiredness.
Beauty sleep
I finish my day with this Korres Wild Rose Brightening & First Wrinkles Advanced Repair Sleeping Facial.
This velvety night cream melts instantly into the skin for intense hydration, brightening and fighting off first wrinkles while I sleep.
After 8 hours of sleep, I wake up with improved skin texture and hydrated skin. Over time, skin looks bright and radiant, not to mention its elasticity improves, and fine and expression lines are reduced.
These simple steps are easy to implement but in the long term have massive benefits for your skin and well being in general. Vitamin C products are easy to come by and there are many other ways to incorporate it into your daily life.
